Teach-Out Phase Announcement Posted on the City College Website
City College Ceases Enrollment and Remains Open Through the Teach Out Phase

After many years of providing quality education in the state of Florida, City College has made the difficult decision to cease enrollment starting with the Fall 2024 term and teach out its existing programs.

Throughout the years, it has been an honor to witness the impact that City College’s alumni have had within our communities and the state of Florida. The mission of City College has been to educate and train students in their chosen major for employment in specific career fields to support our employers in providing well-qualified candidates who possess the technical and soft skills to meet their workforce needs.

City College understands the impact of this decision and has always prided itself on its commitment to its student body: one that we have every intention of maintaining through all steps of the teach-out phase. City College will assist students to graduate or continue their studies elsewhere and will outline a clear pathway for them to earn their degrees. That transition will be guided by a formal institutional teach-out plan, as required by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools and the Florida Commission for Independent Education. The plan will enable the teach-out process to progress in an organized manner to minimize the impact on the students and college community.

The campuses will continue to provide support services to students including academic advisement, tutoring services, transfer assistance, resume writing and placement assistance. The College’s Human Resource Department will be available as a resource to assist faculty, administrators, and staff with their career transition.

In addition to communication already provided to staff and students, City College intends to continue to provide accurate information as it becomes available.

It has been a privilege to provide the education that has helped so many students enhance their lives, as well as their communities. We are thankful for the support that City College has received from our partners and our community throughout the years. For further information please contact Brian Quirk at info@citycollege.edu

Notification to Current City College Students

Dear City College Student,

As stated in our previous communication sent Monday, July 15, 2024, City College will provide updates as information becomes available. In that communication City College notified students how we would proceed in assisting them through this process. For reference, see the communication below:

At this time, City College anticipates remaining open for the Fall and Winter terms to provide students who have less than 25% of the total credits needed to graduate with the ability to complete their education at City College. City College is collaborating with other neighboring educational institutions to create teach-out plan agreements, where students who have more than 25% of the total credits needed to graduate, may transfer their credits to complete their education at those institutions. As soon as additional details on the teach-out plans are available each student will be notified individually, this notification will occur prior to the end of the Summer Term.

To further explain, City College will remain open for the Fall and Winter terms. Students who can complete their required coursework within that timeframe will complete their degree at City College. Faculty and staff will be available to support students during this time.

Every student will receive an individualized plan that details exactly what requirements remain for their program’s completion. Information will be available on the student portal. To further confirm your progress, you may also email the City College Registrar staff at registrar@citycollege.edu . They will respond to your questions as soon as possible in the order it is received.

For students who have more than two terms left in their program, City College has contacted other institutions to pursue an agreement that would allow them to complete their program through the partner institution. At this time, several institutions are evaluating City College courses for transfer credit eligibility. This is not the same process that a new student entering an institution would follow, but a specialized process handled between institutions to help ease the students transition and recognize coursework already completed. While we cannot guarantee at this point that specific courses will transfer, there are institutions currently reviewing and considering our core courses.

Again, we thank you for your patience as we continue this process within the guidelines and regulations we are following. Individual guidance for students will be provided once agreements are in place.

Actions students can take today:

· Continue attending and progressing in your coursework to be able to receive credit for the current term.

· Monitor your satisfactory academic progress (SAP) using the student portal.

· Reach out for any student services you may need including learning centers and career services.

· Ensure that you are connecting with the appropriate individual(s) for your specific needs. For general questions, contact the individual identified in the prior communication.

We want to reassure you that City College is taking all necessary steps to provide students with the most appropriate path forward for them. We kindly ask that students continue to maintain their professionalism and treat others with respect.

Communication to City College Students
Dear Student:

We are writing to share the news that, after careful consideration, City College has made the difficult decision to cease enrollment and teach-out its existing programs.

City College has a long history within our Altamonte Springs and Hollywood communities, and we are proud of all graduates who have gone on to serve our community’s healthcare needs.

This decision does not lessen the commitment to you as a currently enrolled student, and City College will actively continue to identify the best academic path forward for all students. At this time, City College anticipates remaining open for the Fall and Winter terms to provide students who have less than 25% of the total credits needed to graduate with the ability to complete their education at City College.
